One summer day in 2002, my mind opened towards an inner journey. A journey that has continued ever since. I signed up for a yogi summer course. With yoga, breathing exercises and meditation. And for the first time, I really felt myself. My body, mind and ego relaxed and a content feeling came. Suddenly I noticed small things and a sense of inner peace. I was present. And it felt so good.
I enjoy life instead of being trapped in the past or in the future
It’s special and precious to me. And I am very grateful to have been introduced to inner tools like these. I enjoy life instead of being trapped in the past or in the future. It’s also hard sometimes, because I immediately feel, when I am not in balance nor present, and I have to deal with that on top of what already is. : )
This is the opposite to 20 years ago. Then I had different priorities.
Now the most luxurious things in my life are silence retreats with meditation almost from dawn to dusk, vegan food and reconnection with nature. Ohh, I love it. Honestly, I would have laughed out loud, if somebody predicted this about me 20 years ago.
Today it’s like salvation and a full body and mind cleanse. And it’s a really good gift (although it’s actually hard work letting go, being silent for several days and with no entertainment at all).
So, I believe in everything being connected, with an energy and the freedom and strength of being present.
And the reason why the yogi lifestyle is my answer, is because it’s based on these 5 elements, that to me makes sense:
- Breathing exercises
- Exercise (yoga)
- Food (healthy and fresh. No meat, no coffee, no alcohol and the like)
- Thinking (overall life advise; like “the present moment is inevitable”)
The 5 elements together make you balanced. I can sign to this.
However I am not a fanatic nor being a slave to a schedule. So I kind of feel that the above tools are available and to some extent being incorporated in my life.
So I enjoy being present - while drinking a glass of wine : )
The above tools are free from religion and the like. I value the freedom in these aspects as well.
I wanted to introduce and enhance well-being in The Organic Company and therefore I took classes in mindfulness and as a meditation guide, so I know have learned, how to communicate and pass the good feeling on.
In TOC we meditate every week. For those up for it. It’s free of choice : )
